In 2014, shoppers can expect a variety of new tech gadgets that target consumers of all ages, and even their pet, according to one tech expert.

The PetBit is a small activity tracker that attaches to a pet's collar and records your pet's daily movements. The device wirelessly syncs with a mobile app so that a user can keep track of their pet's activity and in turn use this information to set daily goals.

The gadget, which is waterproof and has a high-resolution display, is priced at $99, and will be available this spring, said Michael Prospero, reviews editor at Laptop Mag.

Shoppers who prefer a gadget for themselves have many options, too.

The Typo iPhone Keyboard case fits the iPhone 5 or 5s and pairs via Bluetooth with an iOS 6 or newer operating system. For about $99, this item has a BlackBerry-like keyboard at the bottom.

The Romotive Romo is a robotic gadget to help children learn the basics of computer programming. By docking an iPhone into Romo's base, which is equipped with wheels, a user can wirelessly control Romo through its app. The iPhone's camera acts like the robot's eyes, allowing it to "see," Prospero said.

For about $149, the robotic device runs off the iPhone's power. But considering the cost of an iPhone and the amount of information it stores, adults should probably be wary of handing their smartphones over to their children for play.
