Are you owners of U.S. carrier-branded HTC One units jealous of your Developer and Google Play edition-owning friends and their Android 4.4 updates? Well don't be, because you too will soon know what it's like to break off a piece of that KitKat bar.

HTC announced today that the Android 4.4 update for the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon HTC One models has been handed off to the carriers for final testing. It's expected that the update will be certified next week, and according to HTC's own software update page, the phase after "Certification" is "Push to customer." Those are three pretty sweet words, no?

We've known for a while now that HTC was planning to try and push Android 4.4 to the U.S. carrier-branded One units by the end of January, but it's still good to see that the company is on track. Now we just have to wait for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon to give the software the once-over. Here's to hoping that we don't have to endure a repeat of the Verizon HTC One's Android 4.3 update process in which a last-minute bug ended up delaying the rollout of the new software by nearly two months.

Do you have a U.S. carrier-branded HTC One? If so, which operator is your aluminum-clad handset attached to?
