GeekWire Radio: Amazon at $400, favorite gadgets of 2013, and the new world ...

We have a lot to talk about this week on the GeekWire radio show, starting with Amazon's gravity-defying share price, passing $400/share for the first time this past week.

Despite the company's tradition of razor-thin profit margins, investors seem to have faith in Jeff Bezos' long-term vision - or at least in Amazon's ability to capitalize on this year's holiday shopping season.

From there, we dive into a Bloomberg study that determined Washington to be the most innovative state in the country, thanks in part to the presence of Amazon and Microsoft, but also based on productivity rates, patent holdings and the number of science and technology graduates as a percentage of the population.

Then it's a couple of my favorite stories of the week - Bill Gates playing Secret Santa on Reddit, and a documentary commissioned by Xbox to unearth the urban legend of Atari's buried video games.

Starting in the second segment, we answer the question: Which products does a technology reviewer like enough to actually purchase and use in his own home? We're joined in the studio by GeekWire columnist Frank Catalano, who talks about three of his personal favorites tech products from 2013: Sonos wireless speakers; the Fitbit Zip; and the Google Nexus 5 smartphone.

My own personal pick for 2013: This Seagate GoFlex portable hard drive with Thunderbolt technology for much faster data transfers.

And finally, with a super-traveler like Frank in the studio, we take the opportunity to delve into the question of airplane tech etiquette, including the debate about in-flight calling, and the deep divide about airplane seat reclining.

App of the Week: Feels for iPhone.
